Special election in Illinois on Saturday could add another superdelegate

WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Illinois’ 14th District will hold a special election to fill the shoes of Denny Hastert on Saturday. Democrat Bill Foster is in good shape to defeat Republican Jim Oberweis. SUSA released a poll today showing Foster up by 7 points over his opponent.

A win by Foster would not only increase our majority in the House but it will also bring the superdelegate number back to 795.

If you watch his ad you’ll know who he’ll endorse when he wins.

Update: A Republican congressman’s staffer is illegally asking for phonebanking help using the House e-mail system. Help Bill Foster out if you can… the Republicans will do anything to keep this seat.

A last minute plea, if you have interns sitting around today, please send them over to the RNC room B2 to phone bank for Oberweis in IL-14. Staff, etc. will be making calls all day up until 9 tonight. The phone bank will open tommorrow (Election day) at 9am and end at 7pm.

Feel free to forward to friends on the Hill etc.

The official vote is going to be certified in CA at 203-167 Clinton; a +8 swing for Obama from the CNN count.

Cheers

Actually, politically speaking, if Mr Foster wins, it is likely to give Obama more than just his one SD vote.
His involvement in the campaign is because Obama wants to demonstrate his coattails and that is one of the major selling points to the undecided SD.
