Obama-Clinton superdelegate numbers

WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

I think everyone is aware that since each organization counts superdelegates slightly differently, the point in time when Obama catches Clinton will vary with each count. While we won’t announce the milestone until he catches up in our numbers, the NY Times did the announcement on their front page this morning, and added a nice graph:

If it’s hard, to read, just click over to the Times to look at the original.

Matt,

I see you fixed the “it’s” error on the Thursday 5/8 Summary blog — great! — but you are still making new errors along these lines, including this post and the previous one.

Perhaps this link will help you avoid them in the future:

Thanks!

Dear DCW Guys —

It doesn’t get said enough — big deal about the Times, and ABC, and Chuck Todd (ok, I have respect for Chuck), the AP and all the rest (even the London Telegraph got into the act).

YOU GUYS are not only meticulous about your pledged delegate numbers, but from the very beginning, you actually cited sources.

None of y’all seemed to be looking for glory — you’ve been impartial, and anonymous —

The world has changed from “facts” to innuendo, and chain-email garbage which the morons, I’m sorry, the general public, seem to accept more readily than actual truth.

Y’all harken back to when hard work mattered, the truth mattered, and being correct in one’s information mattered.

More people should do more work of your caliber in the political arena (hell, in the business arena also).

As things wind down, I hope y’all will find some time to rest on your laurels, pat yourselves on your collective back for EXEMPLARY work, and for the kind of rock solid data some of us still pine for.

I know what time commitment (even if it was a labour of love) this has taken. And I’m sure, it’s on top of work, school, families and “living”.

So thank you. And I’m sure I speak for a lot of us faceless “commenters” out here in the left wing blogosphere.

Can they coun’t?
I mean other sources had and still have large networks of correspondents and a lot of resources to get information on superdelegates. But can they count?

1. Why so many sources considered McGovern superdelegate for more than a day? They should have the lists… as DCW does!
2. Is it normal to count an endorsement of a person that is going to lose his super’s status due to retirement before the convention?
3. More important – how is that we always know how many supers are there and what the magic numbers are? Thanks, DCW, for tracking that for us! And how is that paid journalists don’t know which super has half vote and which doesn’t?
Yesterday Politico came out with this story. And they say ‘Superdelegates from U.S. territories count as one-half.’
I didn’t know Democrats Abroad are US territory since only DA supers count half vote each! And it looks like PR, GU, VI and AS are states now because their supers count full vote… Or at least they are not territories anymore!

Reid, the most important thing in DCW is that there are no wrong facts on this blog! Wrong apostrophe can’t win a nomination, wrong delegates count can. I remember blogger saying that he and group of two more bloggers saved a PLEO delegate for Obama in DC finding a tiny line in the delegates selection plan.

Jessica, second!

Clinton has taken Kentucky and Obama is almost sure to win Oregon.
The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates – as CNN points out clearly

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/20/primary.wrap/index.html

If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama

If you haven’t done so yet, please write a message to each of your state’s superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com

Obama Supporters:

Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it’s appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It’s that easy…

Clinton Supporters too …. !

It takes a moment, but what’s a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?! Those are really worth !
