NY Add-ons named
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
The four New York add-ons have been named.
From the Clinton Campaign
Four New York Automatic Delegates Back Hillary
Cuomo, Fields, DiNapoli, Arroyo named NY Automatic Delegates Today
The Clinton Campaign announced the support of four New York automatic delegates today, after the New York State Democratic Committee elected its automatic delegates to the Democratic National Convention.
The automatic delegates include New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, former Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields, New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and New York Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo.
You can see the list of all of the NY delegates here.
It sounds like the MD add-ons won’t be named until Saturday
Fields was a Clinton surrogate on MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17482888/
No MD add-ons today, Oreo. See DKos diary: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/1/141125/4125/337/507140
Why will they continue to call them “automatic” delegates when the whole rest of the country knows them as “super”? Did theft of the election by “automatic delegates” test as less objectionable in some focus group?
Richard- These add-on AKA “automatic” delegates are not like superdelegates; they are chosen at the state level at their respective conventions. Do your homework. They count 1/2 as much.
Hillary obtain 4 today from New York, and Barack will receive 3 from Illinois next week. Net benefit to Hillary +1.
Minnie…
Add-ons get a full vote just like regular superdelegates. If anything the add-ons are less “automatic” than normal PLEOs.
Regular supers automatically get a vote. Add-ons have to be “manually” picked before they get a super vote. Doesn’t sound very automatic to me.
That’s just my take on it though.
Don’t want to sound like an ass but you may want to do some research yourself before you call somebody out.
yeah I know, I need to do more homework myself. I just stopped back to correct myself actually it’s overseas super’s that count as 1/2…
More specifically, only the supers from Democrats Abroad count for 1/2 vote. The supers from the other territories, including Guam, which is certainly overseas, get a full vote.
Minnie – I don’t quite understand why you found it necessary to respond so rudely (and inaccurately) to a simple observation about the Clinton camp’s quirky nomenclature. The Clinton people have been calling all non-pledged delegates “automatic” delegates, a term which seems to have meaning only within the Clinton camp, for as long as I can remember.
As far as your actual points, others have already explained how incorrect they are, so I will pass over them in silence.
