Superdelegate Comments
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
In order to speed up the superdelegate list and relieve our commenters from the annoying error message that blogger can’t seem to fix we’ve decided to make a change with superdelegate comments.
Please post all superdelegate comments here. As always… only comment on new or rumored superdelegate endorsements. All other comments should be in a relevant comment or in our Open Thread.
This comment page has been closed.
New comments should go here
Anybody heard about U.S. Rep Collin Peterson’s endorsement intentions, since the latest one (albeit leaning)was nearly a week ago ?

Kansas Democratic Party Chair Larry Gates announced his endorsement for Sen. Barack Obama
Will add him shortly
What are the chances of Obama getting a flood of SDs tomorrow or Wednesday to give him 2025?
I think you’ve jumped the gun on Rep. Brad Ellsworth for Clinton (5/16). He said he will cast his superdelegate vote for Clinton only if there is “no compelling reason to do otherwise” and only if the nomination hasn’t been decided by convention time.
http://www.courierpress.com/news/2008/may/16/ellsworth-voted-for-obama/
Every county in his district went for Clinton, though he himself voted for Obama, in our May 6 primary.
Virtually none, Marko. Obama will likely get something in the neighborhood of 47 pledged delegates tomorrow. That would still leave him over 60 shy on the high end.
Kansans can unite behind Sen. Obama and his positive campaign, and that is why I have chosen to endorse him,” Gates said. “He has proven his ability to bring Democrats, Republicans and Independents together, and holds the same commitment to working across party lines as Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius.

Remember after tomorrow the Pelosi Club becomes active. There might be many who have not publicly committed to the Pelosi Club but may anounce after tomorrow results are final. There are about 35 unassigned SD and about 190 SD’s who have not declared. What are these 190 SD’s waiting for PR, I don’t think so. I think they will want to give their vote before the DNC Rules Committee meet on May 31.
Alaska superdelegates Cindy Spanyers and Blake Johnson announced their support today for Barack Obama

the total in with the fl and mi is 1990, should it not be 1994 instead ??
Oreo-
I just wanted to point out that it is not only the SD page that gets that error message. Also on the OPEN THREAD that message comes up ALOT. So by having a separate page for SD comments just might ‘not’ do the trick.
Total fixed… thanks!
Leah I think the error comes in posts that have a huge number of comments (counting deleted comments).
You super delegates that go against what the majority of your state voted for…….SHAME on you for not backing up the states that you represent! WE voted you in we’ll vote you out!
No quote or paraphrase yet, just something to be watching for. Iowa Super Delegate Scott Brennan is supposedly going to endorse Obama tomorrow in Des Moines. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-ia-obama-superdelega,0,6776861.story
Here’s a tinyurl for Brennan (I couldn’t get the other one to work):

Please see updates in the Pelosi Club post for DCW policy on moving the Pelosi Club members if/when Obama clinches the non-FL/MI pledged delegate majority on Tuesday. Bottom line: we will not be moving them automatically. They must still each individually indicate who they are endorsing, like any other super.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Democratic Chairman Scott Brennan will announce on Tuesday his endorsement of Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination, The Associated Press has learned.
The decision adds more momentum for Obama in an important swing state likely to be hard fought in November.
DisgustedW/DNC,
I’m not sure what you’re complaining about.
You’re not an Obama supporter, since most supers are going for him, and you can’t be a Clinton supporter, because she said awhile back even pledged delegates can switch depending on their own judgment.
??
Scott Brennan from Iowa might soon be in the Obama column. This AP report in the Chicago Tribune concludes with:
Brennan will announce his decision at a news conference in Des Moines.
Something to keep your eye on today when a credible quote from Brennan should be forthcoming.

Superdelegate Landrieu says she’s still unpledged
May 20, 2008
MONROE — Louisiana U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu said she remains an unpledged superdelegate, but hinted that she would ultimately support fellow U.S. Sen. Barack Obama as the Democrats’ nominee for president.

Matt, Oreo,
As a suggestion to help facilitate this new comment area, could you add a link toward the top of the “superdelegate tracker” page so readers do not have to wait for the page to load and then scroll to the bottom to find the link.
Thanks!
done.
I don’t care what Hillary said.
I believe the state reps and super delegates should back up what the majority of the voters, voted for in their states…. It wouldn’t matter if every state voted for Obama…
Are they not OUR Reps?
Are they Not our Voice?
Did we not vote them in to speak and represent us on our behalf?
Does that not make sense?
It’s just my belief
I find it rather irritating.

Obama’s site regularly reflects 2 more superdelegates for him than you have. Does he have 2 extras that you are unaware of, or is he failing to count 4 democrats abroad as half votes? Thanks.

DisgustedW/DNC,
Different SD have different standards for deciding their votes.
-Some goes with the total popular vote, the polular vote in their state, most pledged delegates in their state or most pledged delegates in total.
-Some decide from whos policies they agree with, whose approach to politics they agree with, who they are buddy with or who they have a history with.
-Some vote for the symbol: first [something].
-Some who they judge is most electable or can form the best basis for a democratic long time success.
So if SDs vote different from their stated standard you can blame them. But don´t blame them for using different standards that YOU would have done.
If you are unsatisfied with the idea of unpledged SDs, please join the DNC and try to change it from the inside
DisgustedW/DNCs—“A representive of the people owes them not only his industry but also his judgement” William Pitt
All,
We added Eric Coleman from Michigan last week. He announced last Wednesday.
ahoff48 – we’re not positive, but here’s what we think are the differences between us and the Obama count. We know they’re counting Al Wynn. We’re not, since he won’t be a super at the convention, and we can’t assume a Donna Edwards win in the Special. When he resigns, they’ll have to remove him.
We think they’re counting Margaret Campbell. She endorsed, but pulled back when she found out she couldn’t legally endorse yet. After her primary, she’ll reendorse, and we will add her.
We have Feingold for Obama – we believe they don’t as he hasn’t officially endorsed.
That puts them at +1. There are a few likely candidates for the other super they have, but we’re not sure.
DNC Scott Brennan (IA) added for Obama
I know this “Superdelegate Comments” section is supposed to be about superdelegate endorsements but since this is news about a superdelegate who has already endorsed, I thought it appropriate to post it here.

I added a post on the front page about 20 minutes ago.
CNN has updated its count. we are off right now.
Herman,
So you’re saying you trust CNN over us? Maybe they’re the ones that are off 😉
Oreo –
Nice front page post (I see it, thanks) on Ted Kennedy.
Landrieu leaning Obama
“I’m unpledged, but my support will likely reflect the will of the state,” Landrieu said while in Monroe on Sunday. Obama beat Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Louisiana primary.
Herman S. Basra and Oreo. Is it possible that CNN is simply rounding the half delegate up? 304.5 rounds up to 305 and 276.5 rounds up to 277. It might not be that simple; it is just a guess.
Oreo, I think (hope) Herman was referring to the superdelegate comparison table in the sidebar.
CNN has updated their count to:
Obama:305
Clinton:277

The SD lists are much easier to parse now that they are listed in single columns. One other organizational note…the SDs are ordered by state, but the sort order of the states is different by candidate. Extremely minor, I was just trying to group by state to see state-by-state SD comparisons.
Thanks for the great site!!
haha.. I wrote a letter to anderson cooper and wolf blitzer letting them know of this site and how there numbers are always off and then i noticed today that besides the half they updated there numbers… whic makes me think they got my message, but there system cant handle half a delegate or something… i was just mentioning an update to the sidebar, and thank you for that!!
Herman…
Sorry I doubted you and I appreciate you giving us the heads up.
One frustrating thing about CNN is that their superdelegate list is run completely separate from their count.
So we have no clue who they include in their total. It’s one of the reasons we started this list in the first place.
Not sure what would happen if Obama makes it to the number needed by 1/2 a vote since not many are counting the half votes.
finally a super site providing up to date superdelegate totals all of us can easily understand.
Kevin– I also wanted to see the comparison by state, so I have taken the info here and broken it up by state on my site (with credit to Demconwatch as my source and the most accurate source on the web.) They are listed by state and are color coded by endorsement, with the percentage that each candidate took of that state. I try to update it daily, but am nowhere near as quick as Matt and Oreo. Good start on state comparison though. It is here if you want to see it:
http://www.patriotstoolbox.org/voting/superdelegates.htm
Oreo– I understand that there were errors and the load time was too long on the other SD page for comments. One tiny addition if it is not too much trouble?? For those of us that read the comments daily and like to research the rumors, would it be possible to put not the full list, but just the last couple of days of new endorsements at the top of this one so we don’t have to keep going back and forth to see who was already added? Then we could just bookmark this page and come straight here.
If Obama clinches the majority of the pledged delegates tonight, will the Pelosi club delegates be moved to the Obama column.
No they will not. See the Pelosi Club post for the explanation.
Matt and Oreo — One more question. I was updating my list and on mine I had Joe Andrew a a Clinton Supporter in Maryland and an Obama supporter in Indiana. On your list you have him in a comment from Matt on the Undecided page as moving from Indiana to Maryland, or vice versa (can’t remember) and “(Clinton)” listed next to his name which tells me he was a Clinton supporter, BUT on the list of endorsements he is listed under Obama. When you click on the name, the article is no longer there for clarification. Did he defect? Was he always Obama? Is he listed wrong?? And what state is he supposed to be in anyway? Thanks!
M
I found where he had switched from Clinton to Obama. Since the source no longer works, here is one from May 1st broken so it works, Sorry for bothering you:

Behind the scenes DNC and Obama officials are meeting to discuss plans for the general election campaign. Surely everyone at the DNC know this. Wouldn’t it be likely the non-committed superdelagates at the DNC would now commit to Obama ?
Matt and oreo once again you have put a SD’s name on obamas list that has not endorsed obama in their own words I think it is a shame. That would be courtney Jean

Rep. Joe Courtney backs Obama
By Associated Press
Wednesday, May 21, 2008 – Added 40m ago
WASHINGTON – Connecticut Rep. Joe Courtney, a Democratic superdelegate, announced his support Wednesday for Sen. Barack Obama to be his party’s presidential nominee.
“I do it with a lot of enthusiasm because I think he’s run a fabulous campaign,” Courtney said.
The freshman congressman announced his decision in a conference call with reporters, saying Obama’s lead in pledged delegates and primary votes over New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton helped convince him.
…
I realize that there will be only 86 pledged delegates left on the board after all of Oregon and Kentucky’s PD’s are allocated but “The Green Papers” appears to have backed off 4 of them for now. Perhaps, those 4 are still up in the air.
Their current count is:
Obama 1655.5
Clinton 1498.5
AP is reporting that DNC Wayne Dowdy (MS) endorsed Obama but no quote yet:

oreo I do apologize the other link was much better. all I was going by was the link with his name. Jean
Halperin is reporting that Guam DNC member Pilar Lujan has endorsed Clinton…
Thats a bit strange. Lujan said that she would vote for the winner in Guam, that winner was Obama. It will be interesting to read her reasons for choosing Clinton over Obama.
Lujan added for Clinton
Guam Democratic Party Chair and automatic delegate Pilar Lujan announced her support for Hillary Clinton today.
“After taking a close look at the candidates in this race, I was more impressed by Senator Clinton’s ability to meet the challenges of the presidency: end the war, re-invigorate the economy, and provide universal health care,” said Lujan. “When she becomes the first woman president, she will think of the people of Guam and their aspirations.”
I expected Obama would pick up several superdelegates following the Oregon primary and his having achieved the majority of available PDs. Do you think the remaining SDs might wait to see what the RBC decides on MI and FL before making decisions? Are they hoping a deal will be brokered with Hillary so they can avoid any public endorsement? Quite an election year.
I do not believe the flow of superdelegates to Obama will keep going at this point. Why? If you go back through the history of this election, everytime Sen Clinton cried wolf (this time sexism) the whole process slows down to a trickle. It seems to me they are afraid to offend her or appear to be uncaring or appear to be against her. It is bad politics considering the Political might of the Clinton brand name. Unfortuantely that is the way this works, why I have no Idea, this has been a great process, but the supers slow down on endorsements after things like this happens.
Of course they could be considering all the poll spin the media puts to this, as to race, gender, age, demographics, education, employment status and level, the polls which I place very little creedance to. I would hate to think anyone takes that stuff serious, because any one can take a poll that shows different, its all about how you ask the question.
I’m thinking that this is starting to resemble chess more than anything else.
greywolf –
Indeed. For the 210 remaining democrat super delegates who still have not committed to either candidate, it seems like they’ve entered the walking on eggshells phase now, once again.
There will be 5 add-ons selected in the next 3 days that are all from solid Obama states. (HI AK GA WY). Perhaps that will start to loosen the general SD log jam.
Rich & Greywolf:
Yes, now would be a good time for women SDs privately committed or leaning to Obama to publicly commit.
I also noted that BillyJay66’s 28 unnamed SD’s doesn’t seem to jive with DCW’s “37 Unnamed Add-Ons, including 2 from Michigan” from their uncommitted SD list.
Remember the pool is currently smaller than 210 ready to decide. 35 add-ons are as yet unnamed. There are five vacants. Five are in the Pelosi club and uncommitted. So only 165 hold positions and have no uncomitment. (This is all non FL-MI). Another 28 there
Today and yesterday strike me as strange. With a solid flow of SD’s for Obama leading up to Tuesday, I expected a somewhat heavier but steady flow to continue.
One scenario is that the campaign is trying to manage the numbers so that MT/SD put him over the top, not the supers. To do that right, he needs to bank about 20 to 30 more before PR and then tamp down any joiners on June 2. This would have a nice ‘democratic’ feel and a good way to draw a line under the race.
Of course May 31 is likely to change the numbers somewhat but I do think the campaign could still muster enough SD’s to allow for a MT/SD clinch under any plausible scenario.
Here’s hoping that this is all being carefully monitored by the campaign! It seems odd to have an unanswered Clinton SD today … a bit worrisome.
I’m wondering what happened to Rep. Albert Wynn of Maryland. He is included in several superdelegate lists but not on any of your lists.
Alex,
We removed Wynn because he will not be a superdelegate at the convention.
We will add Edwards when she wins his seat in the special election.

John Knutson, chairman of the Maine Democratic Party, said Sunday that his add-on to the superdelegate lineup will be a Barack Obama supporter.
He said he is doing this to make sure Maine’s delegate count reflects the popular vote in the state, where Obama got 60 percent of the vote.

Personally, I think the superdelegates are now scrambling to recover. I do not think any one believed Senator Obama would win this thing and now that he has they are not sure what to do. Remember this was supose to be a shoe in for Senator Clinton. Everyone underestimated the American voting public and Obama’s ability to connect with them. Now its scramble time, plus no one wants to upset Senator Clinton who now cries sexism with in the media as well as the voters. So what do they do now? Obama has met as well as exceeded all extablished measurments established by the DNC when this race started. Surprise he has exceed what they figured he would do and now they dont know what to do. Interesting isnt it. The will start flowing again soon enought but until they do it is a sit and wait game.
What’s a shoe in?
Sorry I am dating my self using that term. But a “shoe in” meaning it was believed she would have won this hands down in February.
I think it’s more typically spelled “shoo in”, just fyi.
no snark intended.
🙂
Vicki okay I was spelling it so maybe everyone would understand what I was saying. Most do not recgonize the shoo-in; they would say why would you want to shoo any one in..shoo is to get rid of LOLOLO
🙂
Hey, Why hasn’t this site reported on addon superdelegate Laurie Weahkee (NM) and her endorsement of Obama this afternoon!!!
ARTY,
As I just replied to your other comment. She endorsed on May 9th and was added that day.
More info here
I’m hoping that someone can answer this superdelegate question!
DCW has reported that there are 796 superdelegates, but when I add the number of superdelegates given to each state, district, territory and to the Democrats Abroad contingent I come up with 792. There are an additional 4 superdelegates that aren’t assigned to any state and are listed to “Unassigned”.
The question, obviously, is how and when do these unassigned superdelegates get assigned? I’m pleased to see the ‘Add-On’ schedule but that schedule just includes the states — it doesn’t include the four unassigned superdelegates.
Paul – I’m not sure where you get 4 superdelegates not assigned to any state. There are currently 5 superdelegate vacancies: 2 in Hawaii, which will be filled this weekend, 1 in Illinois – don’t know when this will be filled, and 2 at-large. The two at-large get appointed by Chairman Dean, and the DNC says they don’t know when that will happen, and it might not happen before the convention.
Also, the 796 is superdelegate votes – the supers from DA have 1/2 vote, so there are actually 800 supers with 796 votes.
Paul – I misread what you wrote. You counted supers and than subtracted from 796. What you should do is check your state-by-state numbers against the Official DNC super list, which is linked on the super endorse page.
If you think we have any errors, please let us know.
Matt,
I’ll tell you what I did. I put together a spreadsheet to show something that I didn’t have the heart to ask you to work up for your ‘site — namely, a state-by-state breakdown of the superdelegates. I made four columns: Clinton, Obama, Uncommitted, Unassigned Add-On. Then when I totaled them up I got less than 796. I’ll go over my arithmetic again.
The ‘green’ should probably be removed from the Wexler, Daschle, and Lofgren names on the SD endorsement page list.
.
done.
Paul and Matt — This is a good question and confusing for me too. I have a state by state breakdown too and I got my original list from PBS and they did list four unassigned supers. I have no info on these people, nor do I know if and when they will be assigned, but their reason or position that gave these unassigned people their status was listed as follows: Democratic Attorneys General Association, Member-at-Large, National Conference of Democratic Mayors, and National Democratic Seniors Coordinating Council. Maybe that will help clear up the mystery as to who they are and where they were assigned???

Just received a heads up on this …
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Two of John Edwards’ New Hampshire delegates said Friday they will back Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination.
State Sen. Peter Burling and high school teacher Deborah Nelson announced their decision at a news conference Friday morning. In a phone interview before the announcement, Burling told The Associated Press that he and Nelson believe either Obama or Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton would make a superb president, but it came down to “who can win and who could make a better president.”
Don’t have a URL yet.
Word has it that the DNC as well as the candidates were flooded with letters stating dissatisfaction with the inaction of the super’s and the DNC as a whole these past few days. Most questioning their failure to fall in line behind the candidate that clearly holds the lead in the popular vote, delegate vote and states won plus the commanding lead in majority of the allocated voted delegeats. Many stating that they (the supers) had stated they would support the one with the highest delegate vote. Word is out that there will be some changes to that inaction.

David,
Daschle’s addition to the Pelosi Club on 3/31 was not an endorsement change, so not listed on our endorsement change list. He has always been an Obama endorser.
PatriotsToolBox,
PBS probably has a dated list. We link to the latest DNC list on the superdelegate endorsement post. It’s dated May 15th.
great website for stats. Curiuos though-yesterday your update column lead with “Clinton gets 1st SD for today. Clinton-1 Obama-0”. No lead in statements noted for today. Just an observation.
I’m assuming you’re looking at the top post on the front page.
First thing I typed was
“Obama leads in superdelegates today with 2 superdelegates to Clinton’s -1”
I have two questions?
What’s happened to the Super Delegate Comparison against CNN, NYT, and AP?
Why even count a Pelosi Club Membership if you’re not going to those the numbers in your Super Delegate count? I understand your position of waiting for confirmation, but when people make conditional statements they mostly do it when conditions are met. Or at least that’s what I’ve experienced.
Alex,
Look at Lujan’s Clinton endorsement yesterday. She said she’d endorse the winner of Guam’s primary but didn’t.
This was a PERFECT example of why we don’t assume anything.
Looks like Debra Kozikowski (MA) will endorse June 4th, and you don’t have to be Einstein to understand who she will endorse:

the statements of endorsment are clear:

State Sen. Peter Burling of Cornish and Deborah Nelson of Hanover were announcing their decision at a news conference Friday morning. In a phone interview before the announcement, Burling told The Associated Press that he and Nelson believe either Obama or rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton would make a superb president, but it came down to “who can win and who could make a better president.”
“We chose Obama because he so clearly understands the American yearning for change,” Burling said. “He understands it, he embraces it, and I think he has the leadership to deliver it.”

From the Obama Campaign Front Page – two new delegates.
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/samgrahamfelsen/gGCM5g
Stephen,
Neither of these are supers.
Oreo : they are quasi-supers (i.e. Edwards delegates).
Heh heh… quasi-supers.
Our delegate count comes from The Green Papers. We will update as soon as they do.
I realized they weren’t supers after I sent in the URL. You have taken some of Edwards’ delegates from his count and added them to
Obama’s. At the risk of asking you to repeat how and when this occurs could you? Thanks.
You said that Cardozza was a ‘switch’ from Clinton – but her numbers haven’t gone down by 1 on the the top left side box. A mistake?
Leah. Sure it went down. Yesterday HRC had 279.5. Today her count is down to 278.5
Hmmm. Thank you David Pearl. I had 278.5 being her number for yesterday – so it was MY mistake 😉
Our friend Jenny Greenleaf added for Obama
Oreo: Huffington Post and Globe are both saying Peter Burling and Deb Nelson were Edwards delegates or superdelegates (depending on article you read) and that they have been upgraded to superdelegates. I live here in NH and local tv is also calling them superdelegate designation instead of pledged. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/23/superdelegates-shift-to-o_n_103275.html and http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/05/obama_widens_su.html
Susan,
They’re pledged delegates.
I’ve seen some places say they are “like” supers in that they can pick whomever they want since Edwards released them.

Everyone is chatting on the OPEN THREAD – the link it at the top left of this page. Everyone is welcome to join us.
For Ronald Malone and Patricia Moss of Ohio, check out http://www.recordpub.com/news/article/3351112
Anonymous – we don’t accept lists of names from newspapers as sufficient evidence of endorsement. We’ve been searching for better evidence for Moss and Malone for 3 months. They’re never been quoted as supporting Clinton, and they’re not listed anywhere on Clinton’s web site as having endorsed her. All they would have to do is give a little interview to a newspaper, or have the Clinton campaign put out a press release, and we could then add them.
New Open Thread for VP discussions on the front page. Or use the regular Open Thread on the left sidebar. This thread is focused on superdelegate endorsements, and all other comments are subject to deletion at any time.
Can someone point out to me where and when Dennis Cardoza (CA) was previously listed as declaring his superdelegate vote for Clinton? I can’t find it. It matters because if he was previously declared for Clinton, such a SWITCH is like a gain of two for Obama. If he had not previously declared for Clinton, it is a gain of only one more for Obama.
GA has announced their add-ons:
Obama: State Party Secretary Stephen Leeds
Clinton: State Campaign Director Verna Cleveland
http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/251/story/330431.html
I’m looking for proof of their endorsements now.
This link from George Washington University shows Stephen Leeds having a high position in the Edwards GA Campaign. What we are to assume is that he now endorses Obama because Edwards endorsed Obama.

Here’s the GWU link for Verna Cleveland.
http://www.gwu.edu/%7Eaction/2008/clinton/clintonorgga.html
Leeds and Cleveland have been added. For add-ons, we don’t need the same level of proof of endorsement, as, in this case, they were chosen as add-ons specifically because of who they have endorsed.
New post is up, and sidebar numbers have been updated. This post and add-on post still need to be updated
Something’s screwy with the math in your sidebar, specifically, the “need to win” column for Obama.
Or is the new number needed different than 2025 because of the special elections?
wow, that was fast. good work on all this, folks.
Do you guys know the basis on which Diane Glasser (FL) is a DNC member? She is the party Vice-Chair, but since both she and Karen Thurman, the party Chair are women, she shouldn’t get the DNC spot due to this, so I assume that she is an elected DNC member from Florida, but in that case, I can’t find a male state party officer on the list of superdelegates.
Thanks
As an Obama supporter- I am very angry that Clinton got one of the add ons in Georgia. This is an outrage and is one of the most racist things I have seen in this campaign…Georgia was one of the biggest landslides of any state so far and yet Clinton was able to steal one of the add-ons…
In a separate matter- similar to Keith Olberman’s worst persons in the world- my vote for “worst superdelegate in the world” is Pilar Lujan…she made a statement that she will vote for the winner of the Guam primary and no sooner word those words out of her mouth than she retracted them, and then ended up endorsing Clinton…If she is worst superdelegate in the world then I think her running mate should be Brad Ellsworth- what a royal pain in the arse he was to deal with- spewing this non-sense about how he voted for Obama yet he was going with his constituents who went for Clinton…although in fairness that was probably the most politically astute endorsements I have seen so far…
Caesar, Hillary Clinton’s GA add-on is a black woman! Lujan gets a free-pass, Guam was decided by only 7 votes. Stop talking out of your butt.
Caesar, as an Obama-supporter you should learn from your candidate: Take the high road and move on. From fellow Obama supporter.
Jeremy-
These are the DNC members from Florida:
Hon. Karen Thurman
Rudolph Parker
Jon Ausman
Terrie Brady
Mitchell Ceasar
Hon. Joyce Cusack
Diane Glasser
Allan Katz
Hon. Raul Martinez
Chuck Mohlke
Janee Murphy
You’d probably have to check with the Florida Democratic State Party to find out why each one is a DNC member.
I’m an Obama supporter to Caesar, but I’m guessing you weren’t talking about the integrity of the supers who have switched their support from Clinton to Obama.
ARTY – Here’s a link for Cardoza’s Clinton endorsement. We probably got it from our original Roll Call source in January, which started off our list, and which didn’t provide further sources.
Wyoming Add-on is state Rep. W. Patrick Goggles, who is an Obama supporter.
http://www.montanasnewsstation.com/Global/story.asp?S=8376091&nav=menu227_7
Rep. Chris Van Hollen has been added to the Pelosi Club.
W. Patrick Goggles (WY)# has been added for Obama.
Alex asked yesterday:
What’s happened to the Super Delegate Comparison against CNN, NYT, and AP?
We removed it to clean up the sidebar a bit, and felt it was no longer adding much value, as the numbers were pretty similar at this point.
The information is still available on our Ultimate Delegate Tracker.
What about the Alaska and Hawaii add-ons? Any news yet?
Alaska later tonight, and we may not have it until tomorrow morning. Hawaii won’t be picking its 3 supers until tomorrow after 12 Noon Hawaii time, so tomorrow evening EDT.
Added Alaska add-on Tony Knowles for Obama.
Alex- I don’t care what race the add-on was- it is about the selection process. When you win a state as convincingly as Obama won Georgia- you deserve both add ons.
As for Guam- I am well aware of the 7 vote margin- the whole point of Jeffersonian democracy is that you support a decision even if it is by one vote…Lujan is a complete disgrace to the party.
jcaesar91—Regarding Lujan: As an Obama supporter I’m sure you do not want to use the popular vote to decide this contest. Nominations are won by the person with the most DELEGATES. Guam was 2-2 or a tie in delegates. As to why she would back a candidate that lost this contest back on 3/4/08 is another matter.
Doc, you’re not believing Clinton’s Fantasy Math that she’s ahead in the popular vote?
I haven’t found the popular vote crunching on DCW, but RealClearPolitics puts an end to her fantasy in that regard. Also ABCNews, which you will be happy to hear, reports she is ahead, but on Planet Bizarro.
Jimmy Carter just said:
LONDON (Reuters) – Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said on Sunday he expects Democratic superdelegates to reveal their choice for presidential nominee soon after the final primary in June and that Hillary Clinton will then have to quit the race.
In an interview with Sky News, Carter said he did not think Clinton was achieving anything by staying in the fight.
“I think not. But of course she has the perfect right to do so,” he said while attending a literary festival in Britain.
“I’m a superdelegate … I think a lot of the superdelegates will make a decision quite, announced quite rapidly, after the final primary on June 3,” he told Sky News.
“I have not yet announced publicly, but I think at that point it will be time for her to give it up,” Carter said.
While we are waiting for the results from the Hawaiian State Convention: Here is a reminder that there are more important things in life than politics.
During the state convention weekend in Hawaii, one of the senators and superdelegates, Daniel Inouye, has his mind on something completely different. Yesterday the 83 year old Senator married the 25 years younger Irene Hirano – in Beverly Hills.
We wish him the best and hopefully take lesson from his priorities: Love first, politics second. Kumbaya!
I guess they are on Hawai’i time out there.
Leah, don’t feel bad. Its 3.54 local time in Hawaii, and an earlier post said they’d be done by midday. I guess it depends on what they mean by midday!
Obama picks up three superdelegates from Hawaii!

very cool Lompe…now i can relax
Hallelujah!!!
3 supers added for Obama
Sidebar updated.
All other lists and tables will be updated later.
whoa! I was expecting one add-on? is one of these three and add-on?
never mind, figured it out.
still: whoa!
trudy—I could not agree with you more, regarding the Clinton campaigns mythical math. The Clinton campaign is now spending money for charter buses to take Florida supporters to the by-laws meeting this Saturday. Money that I’m sure they will want the Obama campaign to repay for them, if they lose. No mention, of course, of the 2 million people that would have voted had they thought their vote would have counted. But, what do you expect from a pig, but a grunt?
The Obama Results Center page http://origin.barackobama.com/resultscenter started tracking SDs a couple or so weeks ago and I notice that their SD count runs two ahead of your count for some reason I can not figure out. Did you guys contact the Obama people to ask them for their list? Do you guys know which additional two SDs the Obama page is counting? I am dying to know, because when this thing gets down to the wire, these two extra superdelegates will make a big difference I think.
Regarding the difference of +2 for BHO- I am fairly certain that one of those superdelegates is Margaret Campbell- of MT- the one who endorsed but who had to retract for rules reasons…and I suspect the other might be James Clyburn…
Campbell might be one but the other is definitely Al Wynn, who will have to be taken off their list when he resigns this week.
Hawaii had 3 add-ons, but on your add on page it only listed that they had 1. I am probably making a mistake somewhere …
Hawaii had 1 add-on. The also elected a new chair and vice-chair to fill vacant positions. Those were “regular” superdelegates……
Kujo. Add-ons have the # symbol.
Monday May 26th was the first day since April 27th that there were no new SDs added to DCW ;(
