Guam replacement DNC member likely Uncommitted
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
We noted last Monday that the replacement for resigning Guam DNC member Robert Underwood would be an Obama supporter:
Guam Democratic Party Chairman Tony Charfauros yesterday said he is about to appoint either Sen. Benjamin Cruz or attorney Mike Phillips to a vacant superdelegate position — the party’s “committee man” position. Cruz and Philips are both Obama supporters.

RBC Member predicts Florida will be seated at 50%

Garry Shay, superdelegate from California and member of the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee took part in a panel at the annual California Democratic Council Convention in Fresno. From the California Progress Report, Shay had a lot to say. First, on Florida:
What I anticipate will happen is that—and I have not received any communications from anybody, this is just my own thoughts on the matter—that the superdelegates will likely be seated from both states. That Florida will be seated with a half delegate for each pledged delegate based upon the January results. The concept there being that there must be some punishment for violating the rules, and at the same time, excluding those two states is very difficult.

Before Indiana and North Carolina’s primaries comes the little mentioned caucus in Guam. Guam will send 13 total delegates to the convention in August. The 8 pledged delegates will each get 1/2 a vote for a total of 4 pledged delegate votes. In addition, 5 superdelegates each get a full. Altogether the 13 delegates will account for 9 votes.

LA Special Election Results
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
After all that Guam excitement, there’s more to come. Two House seats are up for grabs in Louisiana on Saturday, with Cazayoux having a great chance to pick a seat deep in red country. The chances are slim but if we get both wins the superdelegate total will be at 796 for the first time since January. You can read more about both races at the Daily Kingfish. Polls have closed at 9:00 Eastern.
