Democrats keep IN-7
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
In a race that took longer to call than it should have, Andre Carson kept IN-7 in the Democratic column, beating Republican Jonathon Elrod by 53%-44%.
Carson, the grandson of previous Rep. Julia Carson, has been a member of the Indianapolis City-County Council. And, of course, he becomes the 796th superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention.

Democratic National Convention Committee introduces its Greening Program
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
The DNCC has just rolled out it’s Greening the Convention program
In another move toward solidifying the 2008 Democratic National Convention’s place in history as the most environmentally-sustainable event of its kind to date, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) today launched a series of “green” pages on its website at www.DemConvention.com. The new content highlights the DNCC’s efforts to design waste out of the Convention by applying sustainable planning principles to every decision in the lead-up to the four-day event. Through these pages and other means, the DNCC also aims to harness national and international attention around the Convention to educate the public on responsible individual life choices to reduce human impact on the environment.

Add-on superdelegate selection schedule
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
The table below shows the schedule for each State Convention where Unpledged Add-on Delegates was selected.
The following description of the Add-on Delegates is taken from the Democratic National Convention Committee(DNCC) web site:
“Add-on delegates – may be selected by either the same selecting body that selects the state’s PLEO delegates or by the same selecting body which will select the state’s “at-large” delegates. They can be selected whether or not they previously filed a statement of candidacy for a delegate position or submitted a pledge of support for a presidential candidate..

Florida and Michigan superdelegates
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
Here’s a summary and a list of the superdelegates from Florida and Michigan. We’ve always included these superdelegates on our lists of supers who have and have not committed to a candidate, but they’re shown in red, and not included in most of our delegate trackers. Remember that if either state delegation is seated by any method, either by a revote or by the Convention Credentials Committee, all these superdelegates get their votes back.

Democrats take IL-14
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
Huge victory for the Democrats tonight, as they take Denny Hastert’s old seat, IL-14. The winner is Bill Foster, and, of course, he becomes our 795th superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention. And yes, he’s supporting his fellow Illinoisan Obama.

CNN messes up delegate math bigtime

I really wish the media would do a little research on these things. I mean, the DNC’s phone number is available. We’ll also continue to talk to reporters to help them make sure the facts are correct.

Superdelegates Are People Too – David Holmes (TX)
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
In our continuing series Superdelegates are People Too we are trying to put faces to the 794 names we have on our lists.
Today we introduce you to David Holmes, a 34 year old superdelegate from Austin TX. David works in the Texas State Legislature and serves on the Democratic National Committee.
Mr. Holmes feels that it’s important that young people are a part of the DNC Leadership and has announced that he will not run for another term with the DNC so that someone under 35 can take his spot.

Special election in Illinois on Saturday could add another superdelegate
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
Illinois’ 14th District will hold a special election to fill the shoes of Denny Hastert on Saturday. Democrat Bill Foster is in good shape to defeat Republican Jim Oberweis. SUSA released a poll today showing Foster up by 7 points over his opponent.
A win by Foster would not only increase our majority in the House but it will also bring the superdelegate number back to 795.

Breaking: Puerto Rico switches to a Primary, moves up to June 1
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
We’ve just been informed by email from Kenneth D. McClintock, DNC member from Puerto Rico, that Puerto Rico is changing from a caucus to a primary, and moving their date to June 1:
[Puerto Rico will] change the voting process from 8 caucuses to a primary with voting places in all 1,800+ barrios in Puerto Rico’s 78 municipalities. This is done in light of the hundreds of thousands of Democrats expected to turn out on June 1, a late date in which we would have originally expected a pro-forma vote with low turnout.

Democratic Convention Watch: More Maine Superdelegate Confusion

More Maine Superdelegate Confusion
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
What is it with Maine and their superdelegates? First, former Democratic Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell moves from Maine to New York. Ok, no big deal. Then, former DNC Chairman Ken Curtis moves from Maine to Florida. Now that is a big deal, because Curtis loses his superdelegate vote as the Florida delegation gets no votes, pledged or unpledged, under the current rules. And Curtis has endorsed Clinton.
Now we get word of more confusion in the Maine delegation. Lists of Maine’s DNC members from last year have Jennifer DeChant as a DNC member. However, lists from earlier this year showed she was replaced by Rita Moran. But the most recent DNC lists show DeChant back as a DNC member. What’s going on?
