“All Politics is Local” Spoke Tip O’Neill

WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

We can look at elections in terms of national popular votes, or Electoral College votes. We can look at which demographic voted in which way. But no matter how you slice it, ALL elections come down to what each individual does when he/she is in the voting booth. While some people vote against their own self-interest, in the end a vote for most people is “Which candidate do I believe in? Which will do the best by me and my family and my beliefs?”

I am pleased and humbled that the DCW guys are allowing me to come to you as part of this most auspicious of blogs. What will forever be THE historic source for Superdelegate tracking. My plan is to write mainly about the down-ticket races. I will be putting out “Sunday with the Senators” to keep you apprised as to what is happening with the Senate races. First, tomorrow, framework for which races are in play, why they are in play, and where you can go to help with the election of the progressive Democratic candidates (and why you should….). In addition, I will be writing on the competitive House races. For both sets of races, I’ll have poll numbers, and will cite all relevant sources. So let’s talk a little about the polls. Clinton’s last superdelegate endorsement

WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

In the midst of the superdelegate flood on Tuesday, one endorsement stood out. Not counting the South Dakota endorsements of Clinton by Sen. Tim Johnson and DNC member Cheryl Chapman, who both followed their state’s vote, Clinton’s last superdelegate endorsement was from Wyoming DNC member Cindy Nunley:

Let’s say this for Wyoming Democrat Cindy Nunley: No one can accuse her of political expediency. Continue Reading...

DemConWatch Congratulates Barack Obama

WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com

Barack Obama is the Democratic Presidential Nominee for the 2008 General Election, so DemConWatch has decided that we will no longer be updating our superdelegate lists or tables.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped us out with our Superdelegate Lists and Delegate Trackers. Special thanks go to Yousri, Quon_mom, Amot, Charlie and Ed Espinoza. Thanks also to all of our readers and commenters, who have provided us with much of the information you see on these pages. When we started the lists in early January we had no idea that we would get so much attention or that we would be updating the list into June. Continue Reading...

It’s over:

On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.
